Organized by UNIDO ITPO Italy and promoted by the Italian Chamber of Commerce of Peru, the webinar “Investire nelle tecnologie ambientali in Perù: guida per le piccole e medie imprese italiane” took place on 1 December 2020 and successfully presented investment opportunities in the environmental technology sector of Peru to the Italian entrepreneurial community operative in the field.

The initiative was part of the project “Fostering international partnerships between companies and/or institutions operating in the energy and environment sectors” funded by the Italian Ministry of the Environment, Land and Sea and implemented by UNIDO ITPO Italy.

Followed by more than 30 participants, the conference was moderated by UNIDO ITPO Italy Investment Promotion Expert, Ms. Aurora Cicillini, and opened by Mr. Andrea Pavia, Business Manager at the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Peru, who provided an overview of the economic and bureaucratic environment for investment in the country.

The event featured the interventions of several experts from the local sector: Mr. Juan Carlos Vásquez Lazo, Consultant for solid waste management, presenting the environmental challenges of Peru; Mr. Corrado Cimino, Country Manager of Terna Perù, who highlighted the company's successful project in the country for local sustainability; Mr. Andrés Salas Colonna, General Manager at Peru Business Corporation SAC, and his experience in the import of environmental technologies from Italy to Peru; Mr. Juan José Cardenas, Infrastructure Leader at EY Law Peru, providing a legislative framework for investment in the country; Ms. Karin Granda, Special Projects Directo at ProInversión, illustrating the role of public-private partnerships for local water management; and finally Mr. Jenaro Laris Vaśzquez, Director of the SACE in Mexico, introducing SACE's tools to support the internationalization of Italian companies in Latin America.

According to the live polls during the conference, the majority of Italian companies attending the event would be interested in starting an import-export business in Peru and transfering their innovative technologies and solutions into the Peruvian market. Thanks to the final Q&A session, all participants also had the chance to ask questions directly to the panel speakers, facilitating an immediate exchange of sectoral knowledge and the development of potential investment projects in Peru.
