The “Workshop on industrial cooperation in Tunisia, with focus on the agro-industry sector”, organized by the Tunisian Export Promotion Center (CEPEX) and the Embassy of the Republic of Tunisia to Italy in collaboration with Confindustria Assafrica & Mediterraneo and UNIDO, was held on 10th July 2024 at the premises of Confindustria in Rome.

Aimed at illustrating the huge opportunities offered by the agribusiness sector in Tunisia, including the Italian credit line managed by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), the workshop saw the participation as panelists of high-level representatives from Tunisian institutions – including H.E. the Ambassador of Tunisia to Italy Mourad Bourehla and the General Director for Agroindustry at the Ministry of Industry, Mining and Energy of Tunisia Hamida Belgaied – as well as representatives from Assafrica, CEPEX, UNIDO, ITPO Italy and AICS.

The event was a huge occasion to relaunch the cooperation between Italy and Tunisia, and lay the foundations for a new chapter of cooperation between UNIDO ITPO Italy and the MENA country.

On the following day, UNIDO ITPO Italy organized and coordinated a study visit to Centro Agroalimentare Romano (CAR) to understand the functioning of the biggest Italian centre for agricultural products and explore new collaborations through ad-hoc B2B meetings between Tunisian and Italian companies and distributors, with the aim to place Tunisian products into the Italian market and locate spaces and warehouses inside CAR to further distribute the Tunisian products across Italy and Europe.
