Ghana-Italy Circular Economy Dialogue

The Ghana–Italy Circular Economy Dialogue was held on 16th and 17th June 2026 at the University of Professional Studies in Accra (UPSA), strengthening cooperation between Ghana and Italy in the field of sustainable textile, waste and water management, green manufacturing, and innovation-driven entrepreneurship.

Organized by UNIDO ITPO Italy and the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) with the financial support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation through the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), the event was held in collaboration with a participated network of valued Italian and Ghanian stakeholders. Among these: Confindustria Assafrica & Mediterraneo, CNA Federmoda, Ecomondo - The Green Technology Expo, MICS - Made in Italy Circolare e Sostenibile, Alliance Biodiversity & CIAT, E4Impact Foundation, the Italian Directory of Diasporas for the International Cooperation (CIDCI), and World Trade Center Accra.

The Dialogue featured a full-day conference, followed by technical workshops and B2B sessions convening institutions, industry leaders, universities, innovators, civil society and development partners. With a focus on skills development, testing laboratories, and a venture studio model to support innovative enterprises, the event particularly highlighted the local potential in textile recycling and repurpose, shared valuable expertise and know-how to identify scalable circular economy models and promote technology transfer and partnerships, and ultimately represented a pivotal platform to identify opportunities for joint projects, investments, and technology transfer enhancing partnerships between institutions, businesses and academia while enhancing Italian companies’ exposure to economic and research opportunities in Ghana.
